CAFÉ

CAFÉ - Consortia for Agri-Food in Europe

CAFÉ is a pan-European thematic network to identify and exchange knowledge, techniques and information between member regions and the food industry with the objective of enhancing the competitiveness of the European Food Industry. Members of the project come from 16 regions from all over Europe.

The “Kick Off “meeting for the Café project took place in York at the Central Science Laboratories on Friday 19th October 2001, the UK Centre of Excellence for Food Production and Associated Processing. Delegates had an opportunity during the meeting to view their facilities and talk with CSL staff.

The result of the meeting was that members of the project confirmed the aims and objectives of the project and agreed to work together to fulfil them. Those objectives are:

Members left the meeting eager to contribute to CAFÉ over the next two years and develop strong working relationships and share best practice through the CAFÉ network.

The Food Industry is defined in CAFÉ all business activity post harvest of food products (including fish), predominantly the manufacture of food and drink, to the point of delivery to the customer, whether retail, wholesale or the food service industry.
